socialdisconnection
This study explores how social disconnection—particularly the absence of meaningful in-person interaction—impacts mental and physical well-being among young adults. Conducted alongside research partner Tarun Chottera, the research compares offline vs. online social behaviors, analyzing patterns of loneliness, perceived support, and emotional resilience. Our findings aim to inform interventions that enhance connectedness in digital-age communities.
The study design includes longitudinal surveys, behavioral data, and social mapping, combined to highlight the role of face-to-face interaction in reducing stress and improving emotional health. We built the structure to reflect real-life environments—from dorm life to public spaces—capturing the psychological nuances of disconnection.
Insights from this research actively shape the UX and community dynamics of Socials, our invite-only offline experience app. By integrating behavioral data with app logic, we ensure that every user journey prioritizes presence over performance. Our goal: design an ecosystem that nurtures well-being through authentic interaction.
This isn’t just a study—it’s a movement to reclaim social health in a hyperconnected world. Merging scientific inquiry with entrepreneurial action, our work on Socials is both a product and a proof: that the right platform, built with empathy and evidence, can transform how people gather, heal, and thrive—offline.
